Midlothian Tourism Forum and VOCAL (Voice of Carers Lothian) NEW Collaboration
Midlothian Tourism Forum joins (MTF) forces with charity VOCAL to support local unpaid carers ( Voice of Carers Across Lothian)
Members of the MTF steering committee met with the VOCAL team at Dalkeith Country Park to launch the collaboration. The partnership follows strong enthusiasm from local tourism and hospitality businesses in Midlothian Tourism Forum eager to provide offers to support their work
VOCAL support unpaid carers with information, advice, & training in Edinburgh & Midlothian.
Ian Gardner, Chair of the Midlothian Tourism Forum, said:
“We were delighted to hear more about VOCAL’s work earlier this year and to seize the opportunity for a closer partnership. As a local tourism association, it makes sense for MTF members to offer effective, tangible ways to support working carers. We look forward to actively promoting VOCAL’s vital work at our upcoming events and throughout our business communications.”
Denise Millan, Partnership Training Officer at VOCAL Midlothian said:
Midlothian has so much to offer, not only for tourists but also for local people. We’re happy to be partnering with the Tourism Forum to bring these opportunities to carers, to give them the chance to take a break in their local area.”
Midlothian Tourism Forum is keen to support the VOCAL Wee Breaks initiative. VOCAL’s Wee Breaks service gives unpaid carers a much-needed short break from their caring role. Carers can access funding to spend on a break of their choice, VOCAL’s holiday homes, advice on planning a break, and free tickets or vouchers to local leisure and hospitality opportunities
