Midlothian Tourism Forum shortlisted in business awards

Midlothian Tourism Forum’s work has been recognised by Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber of Commerce, as a finalist in the ‘best community impact’ category of their annual business awards.
The Forum is a membership organization, supporting 44 tourism, hospitality, community, arts and heritage bodies across Midlothian.

Liz Young Co-ordinator said “Midlothian Tourism Forum (MTF) is uniquely positioned to work within our communities. Last year, our research project scoping community needs led to a dedicated Community Tourism Business & Networking event, increased community representation within MTF, and new trails on the Visit Midlothian website. Now, our new partnership initiative with VOCAL(Voice of Carers across Lothian) demonstrates how MTF uses its network to support wider community wellbeing, creating practical support for carers while strengthening social value alongside economic activity”

Ian Gardner, Chair of Midlothian Tourism Forum, added ‘Through concerted networking, sharing good practice, spotting opportunities, gathering market intelligence and hearing from external speakers, we encourage enterprise and raise aspirations within our community of members. This impact is then felt by their customers, so the Forum has a much wider reach. By working together, we have developed a stronger proposition for our tourism offering, bringing greater economic benefit to the local area by increasing quality, visitor numbers and spend right across Midlothian.’

The winners of the 2026 Midlothian and East Lothian Chamber of Commerce awards will be announced at a ceremony on 17th September.
Keith Barbour, President of the Chamber of Commerce, said: ‘The judging panel faced an incredibly difficult decision this year due to the strength of the entries we received. The quality, innovation and resilience demonstrated by local businesses has been truly inspiring. These awards are an opportunity to recognise the outstanding contribution businesses make to our local economy and community, and we congratulate all of our finalists on their achievement.’
