Crichton Castle (Historic Environment Scotland)
Due to restrictions in place as a precautionary measure while we undertake high level masonry inspections, there is currently no visitor access inside the castle or stables. The grounds are accessible. Find out more about our conservation work.
Crichton Castle stands tucked away out of sight, on a terrace above the River Tyne in Midlothian. Though rarely the stage for significant events, the castle’s connections to two influential families link it to some of the most colourful chapters in Scottish history.
