Gore Glen is a woodland Trust Walk. Enjoy panoramic views of the Pentland Hills. Explore mature woodlands on whin pathways to woodlands, riverside and ponds or enjoy the peace and tranquillity of former “ Gunpowder Glen”. Gore Glen was the site of Scotland’s gunpowder mill in 1794 and for nearly 70 years the river was used to power 10 waterwheels.
Feeling active try the 8 mile walk by the bank of a small river, through woods and up and down short hills. Nothing in the way of facilities on the walk itself, but there is a cafe at National Mining Museum Scotland for some refuelling treats, which you pass on the way there.
