National Mining Museum Scotland

Housed in the wonderfully restored Lady Victoria Colliery in Newtongrange, the finest surviving Victorian colliery in Europe, the five-star National Mining Museum Scotland tells the story of coal for Scotland.  Through two floors of exhibitions, interactives and guided tours with ex-miner guides, visitors can retrace the steps of thousands of miners and their families who relied on the colliery to make a living.

The museum’s café is open from 10am every day serving speciality teas and coffees, sandwiches, paninis, toasties and freshly baked cakes.

EVENTS

An exciting programme of events runs throughout the year and includes family friendly events, cinema screenings, pub quizzes, ghost tours, adult workshops, pantomimes, concerts and much more.
